A book called The Leap Process: the side hustler’s guide to getting the life of your dreams and creating a life you love! by Jess Kuemmerlin uses the phrase “side hustle”.

  • A side hustle isn’t meant to be your primary income.
  • A side hustle is a freelance independent gig where no one else can pull the plug.
  • You can have more than one side hustle.
  • A side hustle is an asset and ought to be something you love.

A side hustle is that gap between where you are and achieving your dreams.

My primary income is from my transcription business. More on that in later posts, with an overview of the three women who are part of Kenna McKinnon & Associates.

My side hustle is my books.

What about you? Do you plan to retire to a tropical island and write your way to fame and the gold at the end of the writing rainbow?

My plan goes something like this:

Move to Penticton, British Columbia for two months during the brutalist time of the Edmonton winters.

Write on the beaches and stay in a cheap condo for rent during December and January.

Move back home for the temperate summers and my friends here.

This is the first post on my new blog, thanks to the very proficient JennJ Designs and Jennifer Johnson!!!

American aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart once said, “The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.”

I’ve decided to move to the next province to the west in the fall, probably November 2019, and have picked Penticton, British Columbia as being a smaller city situated in a beautiful part of the Okanagan Valley, with fruit orchards, wine orchards, and a hotter climate. I don’t want to experience another Edmonton winter!

There are apartments for rent available for approximately the same cost as I’m paying for mine here. They’re close to buses, walking, beaches, and an historic downtown. They have a fair number of family doctors and psychiatrists.

Any comments about picking up my suitcase and moving in my mid-seventies? Excited!!
