Backstreet Boys Inspired by Oprah

December 4, 2003 "Backstreet Boys Inspired by Oprah to Hit Studio Again".

Question: Brian Littleroller, what was your first impression of Oprah and why did she inspire you to return?

Brian: Well, Oprah is a beautiful big black broad with...how could I not be inspired? Ask Nicolas Cartwheels. He told me let's listen to the guru of gestalt.

Question: Mr. Cartwheels? Does Scottie McLean agree with you boys?

Nicolas: As new kids on the block, we were blown away.

Question: Howie Doughboys and Keith...er...Mr. Richardson, to what do you attribute your amazing success?

Howie and Keith (together): Pop, pop rock, R&B, teen pop, adult contemporary. We've been active since 1993 with a break from 2002 - 2003. I see you've narrowed that down to our Oprah Ah-Hah Moment.

Question: Did you answer the question?

Backstreet Boys: Sure. Anything else, Elton?

Question: You're set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year. Are you excited?

Backstreet Boys: Yes, we're excited. We're Unbreakable and This is Us. Over and out.

Question: Classical soul, Ninja Turtle, you're named after Orlando's former Backstreet flea market. Any relation to the Izmaylovo?

Backstreet Boys: Definitely.

IZMAYLOVO FLEA MARKET IN RUSSIA

Want to know where to get a good ol' Russian propaganda teen idol poster?

Go to the Izmaylovo Flea Market in Moscow and don't take any more rubles than you plan to spend. Because this will have you dazzled with its variety of wares.

Any teens living in Moscow or planning to visit Moscow or Russia this summer? Check out this world famous flea market conveniently located near the Izmaylovo Park. Get your souvenirs here. Homemade goods, antiques on the third floor, art and war memorabilia.

Teen idol posters? Look no further.

Forgive me if my spelling is wrong. I found several different spellings of Izmaylovo and Izmaylovo Park.

Where's your favorite spot to buy cool retro clothes, posters and memorabilia?

Value Village? Goodwill? Or Moscow?

Is Justin Bieber Maturing?

Is Justin Bieber maturing with his "bubblegum" slide from "Baby" to the more R&B "Boyfriend"? Similar to the other Justin (Timberlake) who wailed from "Bye Bye Bye" to "Cry me a River".

"Boyfriend" is Canadian Hot #1 in Justin's native country (Canada) but #2 in the USA.

"We are Young" by Janelle Monae is #1 in the USA for the fifth straight week, due partly to streaming and radio air time, not only digital buys.

Justin may be maturing along with his fans, one would hope. Way to go, Justin Bieber, our Canadian native boy!

Much of BUY'S Internet Superstore not available in Canada?

Disney Radio Jams 11, anyone? It's great music on Buy's Internet Superstore, but this CD from Buy's is available only in USA. What, not Canada? Not UK? Where do you buy your music? Do you (shhhh) download it for free, buy iTunes?

I found books were the same. I found an awesome book, McTs Self Paced Training Kit, also The Cage of Zeus, looked fascinating - not available to Canada.

Come on, Canada, you can do better than that.

Our kids love Buy's Internet Superstore. Don't you, American kids?

Any thoughts, Canucks and International residents?

Two greats, Bradbury and Heinlein

Ray Bradbury is dead at the age of 91. Dead on Wednesday, June 6, 2012; I don't know the cause other than his heart gave out. He refused to put his works on ebooks except for one. Best known for Fahrenheit 451, the only novel he said was true science fiction, or based on what was real as opposed to fantasy (unreal). For example, the Martian Chronicles in Bradbury's opinion was fantasy as it was unreal.

His work always reminded me of another great writer, Robert Heinlein, who died in 1988. My friend Judi said the first Sci Fi book she read and so much enjoyed as a teen was Heinlein's "Have Spacesuit will Travel."

Which writers do my young readers enjoy and want to emulate? James Patterson, Jeremy Shipp, there are many others.

Want to put in a vote for your favorite?

Rest in Peace, Ray. You were "a kid at heart," a legacy I would hope could be mine some day. Not that I could ever hope to be a great writer like you, but a "kid at heart," bringing joy to millions.

Authors promoting their books - what would you like to see?

This is a bit of a risk, but how many of you are tired of hearing authors promote their books?

On Twitter, Facebook and their blogs?

Some are more clever than others. What do you think? What would you like to see here, kids? Some reviews that you do yourselves, or something different like yesterday's post on shoes or Hunger Games?

I'd really like to hear from my young adult readers.

Hunger Games and other stories

May I say I'm almost through Hunger Games and it's awesome. A very well written story, very entertaining, and with a political message, too. My Probation Officer haha recommended it to me two or three months ago. She must have had a reason. This was over a coffee at Starbucks. May I say, too, that Hunger Games is better than James Patterson's Witch & Wizard. Or Jeremy Shipp's Attic Toys.

They're different. But what do you think?

Walk the Talk - What are You Wearing this Summer?

"Let your shoes do the talking" is the headline in GQ (Gentlemen's Quarterly), which you dudes should be paying attention to. What do you think of these tips?

  • Experiment with color.

  • Yellow shoes could make you "look like Donald Duck" so wear simple, dark jeans and shirt with these.

  • Florsheim by Duckie Brown for "classic kicks."

  • Esquivel - a "wingtip with a sneaker's soul."

  • "A pair of checkerboard Vans is as loud as a pair of green saddles."

  • Men's Jimmy Choos are in stores, too, from around $700 and up.

Parka and jeans? Cable knit hat? The usual black wool cap? Save that for winter. Right now it's...

SUMMERTIME!!!!!

What are you wearing this summer? Holidays are just around the corner. Let's hear from you, young adults! First of all forget the Jimmy Choos. $$$$ Right?
